Elaine Behr from HBM Group on the IFA General Council
Representing Netherlands Antilles on the International Fiscal Association throughout 2011
Elaine Behr, HBM Group’s Head of Business Development was appointed Deputy Member of the General Council of the International Fiscal Association, representing the Netherlands Antilles.
The International Fiscal Association (IFA) was established in 1938 with its headquarters in the Netherlands. It is the only non-governmental and non-sectorial international organisation dealing with fiscal matters. Its objects are the study and advancement of international and comparative law in regard to public finance, specifically international and comparative fiscal law and the financial and economic aspects of taxation.
Although the operations of the IFA are essentially scientific in character, the subjects selected take account of current fiscal developments and changes in local legislation. Membership of IFA now stands at nearly 12,000 from some 100 countries. In 62 countries IFA members have established IFA Branches. Its General Council is entrusted with the long-term/strategic management of the Association.
Commenting on her appointment, Elaine said; "I am very proud to be sitting on the IFA General Council. This appointment also comes at an opportune time, with our firm, HBM Group, currently celebrating 20 years of excellent services to the international community. I am very much looking forward to working within the IFA General Council; also to promote our various jurisdictions".
