History

HBM Group, a highly entrusted and sophisticated financial service provider, was founded by Herman J. Behr in 1991 in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean. The company was started with the intention of offering International Company Solutions with the highest level of personal service to a select group of high net worth individuals and innovating entrepreneurs. Today, the team of professionals at HBM Group is still building on this tradition of excellence.

Herman J. Behr, previously formed part of the management team at Pierson Heldring & Pierson’s Trust, at that time a leading company in its field that later was acquired by ABN AMRO Bank and Fortis Bank. With this acquired experience and his dedication, Herman J. Behr built a successful company that is now present in multiple jurisdictions all over the world.

Herman J. Behr held and currently still holds a number of positions in Professional and Community Organizations: such as chairing the Board of the Curaçao International Financial Services Association (CIFA) (www.cifa-curacao.com), The Board of Trustees of the University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA) (www.una.net), Curaçao Chamber of Commerce & Industry (www.curacao-chamber.an), the Supervisory Board of OBNA Bank, the development bank of the Netherlands Antilles, Member of the International Bankers Association of Curaçao (www.ibna.an), Member of the International Fiscal Association (www.ifa.nl), Board Member of Fundashon Pro Kolaborativo, foundation to fund and promote tripartite dialogue among social partners and government of Curaçao.

Herman J. Behr was joined by his son Raoul Behr and later by his daughter Elaine Behr, who joined the management team of HBM Group and thus securing the continuity of HBM Group.

The family owned HBM Group achieved the right balance early on in its existence; HBM Group enjoyed successful growth throughout the years. Simultaneous to the establishment of the Curaçao office, offices were established in the British Virgin Islands and Aruba. Today, HBM Group has (representative) offices in many jurisdictions and specializes in establishing and managing companies, foundations and other legal entities in many convenient places in the world, providing corporate secretarial and accounting support to provide international company solutions, ICT services and office facilities. HBM Group developed specialized units and brands such as e−Management, New Haven e−Zone, Aeronautica and HBM Fund Services to particullarly support e−commerce, international trade solutions, aviation and maritime services and fund administration.
